erosion

erosion is inevitable

the grains of sand flee-
tumble this way and that,
one-by-one
on awkward edges

once moist and malleable
the summer heat leaves them
dry and loose
and the precipice of winter
won't restore them...

if you can't save the barren lands
just prescribe me the memory-
the faint trace of conversation
or silhouette of your bodies
swaying in front of the fire...

and rise-
like an amazon-
like a phoenix-
and guide us on the paths

unknown

sometimes the lanterns are pilots
in a limited sky
when the cold hits our toes
and the castle ruins
lean into the night
but she does not know
she does not read the signs
as the smoke circle
sets them alight
i watch her glow
in the harsh, auburn light
and all the while
the sea slowly pushes itself into the rocks below

Diamond Jubilee

London is practically bursting at the seams- union jacks everywhere, and of course all the loyal subjects partying in honour of Her Majesty and her 60 years...  I'm no royalist, but I do love this country. England really is amazing!!  Last week I did some shopping on Regent street (since my clothes are starting to burst at the seems and it's time to admit I need maternity clothes!) and ran into this lovely police man and he kindle offered to take photo with me and the union jack background. It's imperative to document a sunny day in England, as they are ever so rare!

so 5 months in and life is good. AND, we're having a GIRL! Does life really get any better?
We're naming her Katherine Isabella- after our grannies.

and now my family descends on this beautiful city...

Let's make a baby

Option one:
IVF treatments: $15,000-$30,000 for 3 attempts
Buying frozen sperm from a bank: $3,000-$5,000 for 3 attempts

Option two:
clear blue fertility monitor: $69.00 on amazon
5 10ml needless syringes: $3.00, online
6 Instead softcups: $12.00 online
6 zestica fertility lubricant applicators: $12.00
3 pregnancy tests: $4.00 online

Well, we chose option 2. And it worked on the first try. We're having a baby! Expected to arrive sometime at the end of October!  I'd say we'd saved a hell of a lot of money!

What's been most amazing about this whole process is how much I have learned about fertility, eggs, hormones, the life of sperm, cervical mucus, and just how awesome it is to create life, especially at home in a non traditional way.

WOOOHOO!
